Review the card before the game

Check that the squares fit the part of the broadcast your group plans to watch. The current mix suits a round that runs from the pregame show through halftime or later. A commercial-only round needs more advert squares. A halftime round needs more performance and crowd moments.

Review the audience too. The card includes Beer commercial, Shirtless fan wearing body paint, and Player smacks another player's butt. Open the template and replace anything that does not suit the group. You can also change subjective prompts such as National Anthem sung well if you would rather use events that are easier to judge.

Choose when the round will run

The card draws from several parts of the broadcast, so it works best when players will watch for more than a single break or performance. For a shorter game, decide when marking starts and stops before editing the squares.

Full-broadcast bingo

Keep the mixed card when players will watch most of the broadcast. Game action, adverts, crowd shots, and halftime events can all count during the same round. Tell players whether pregame events such as the national anthem are included.

Commercial bingo

Keep squares such as Car commercial, Potato chip commercial, and Cute animal commercial. Replace game-only events so every square has a chance to appear during an advert break.

Halftime bingo

A halftime round needs prompts tied to the performance, stage, crowd, and broadcast. The current Halftime show stunt square fits. Most football and commercial squares should be replaced before play.

Set up and play Super Bowl bingo

Make the main decisions before anyone receives a card. Players should know what part of the broadcast counts, which pattern wins, and how the group will settle a close call.

1. Choose the play window. Decide whether events count during the full broadcast, commercials, halftime, or another clearly defined period.
2. Review and edit the squares. Remove prompts outside that window and replace anything that does not suit the group.
3. Set the winning rule. Choose a line, four corners, or another visible pattern. Explain how you will handle disputed events.
4. Distribute the cards. Print them for an in-person party or share the online game before the chosen round begins.

Players mark a square once its event happens. When someone completes the agreed pattern, pause long enough to compare the marked squares with what the group has seen.

Agree how to judge each square

Some prompts are objective. A fumble or missed field goal either happens or it does not. Others need a shared ruling. One person may find a commercial funny while another does not, and a quick crowd shot can be easy to miss.

• Decide whether replays count or only the first live appearance.
• Mark a repeated advert square once, unless you agree on a different rule before play.
• Let the host make the final call when players disagree about a subjective square.
• Keep the completed pattern visible until the winning card has been checked.
